Art and Technology in Dialogue

Haypeter_Installation

The artist Werner Haypeter has created a two-part permanent installation in the foyer of MC-Bauchemie's training centre in Bottrop that is tailored to the geometry of the space. The work was produced to commemorate the forthcoming 50 anniversary and was introduced to the public for the first time as part of the anniversary press conference held by MC-Bauchemie.

Numerous domestic and international exhibitions and art projects have established Werner Haypeter as an artist known for his thorough and distinctive way of exploring the aesthetic effect of materials and spatial environments.  The installation in the foyer of the training centre combines painterly, three-dimensional and architectural elements and creates a bracket that structures the space, connects it visually and results in experiencing the space as a holistic unit. Mr. Haypeter deliberately uses materials in his work that stem from the familiar work environment of the company’s workforce, resulting in the creation of an immediate link regards perception and experiencing of the installation.

In terms of proportion and coloration the individual elements of the installation have been carefully matched to suit one another and to harmonize with their environment and its usual function. As a vestibule to the adjoining seminar and “deminar” halls, where training courses take place and processes from the real world of work can be demonstrated, the foyer is on one hand a place of recollection and concentration on forthcoming training, and on the other hand it is a meeting venue, a place for post-processing and relaxation after the lessons. The aim was to accentuate the foyer’s intrinsic architectural and functional logic.

Werner Haypeter has successfully achieved this by intervening in the space, introducing an additional element to the foyer that enriches the ambience and lets employees and visitors of MC-Bauchemie experience the space anew and with invigorated intensity.
